Silicon Mitus and Pico Semiconductor Partner to Develop Ultra-Small High-Frequency Silicon Capacitors SEOUL, South Korea--Silicon Mitus (CEO Huh Youm), a company specializing in power management and analog semiconductors, announced that it has signed a contract to develop ultra-small silicon capacitors for high frequency with a major electronics manufacturer in Korea, and has supplied trial samples. Silicon Mitus worked in collaboration with Pico Semiconductor, Inc. (CEO Kim Yong-guk), a capacitor development company. A capacitor is an electrical component that stores a large amount of charge in a conductor for a period of time to maintain a steady flow of current to other electronic components. Silicon Mitus's ultra-small silicon capacitor is the result of its collaboration with Pico Semiconductor on analog semiconductor and cell manufacturing technology. With its excellent high-frequency characteristics and low resistance (ESR/ESL), the capacitor is ideal for SoC packaging modules. This invention allows one or two silicon capacitors to replace multiple multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC). As a result, its scope of use is expanding beyond small electronic products to include IoT and high-frequency communications applications. Except for one Japanese company, Silicon Mitus is the only company that has successfully developed and supplied samples of such an ultra-thin, high-capacity capacitor. According to Transparency Market Research Inc., a market research firm, the global silicon-based capacitor market is valued at around KRW 2 trillion (USD 1.48 billion) and is considered a high-potential market with an annual growth rate of 6% to 8%. Silicon Mitus is expanding its customized products business to meet the growing demand in relevant markets. A Silicon Mitus official said, "In silicon-based capacitors, it is difficult to process wafers because they are sensitive to the dynamics of the materials and structures used. The key to the successful commercialization of this product was the development of materials and processes that meet the required performance level."

Silicon Mitus Develops Ultra Small High Frequency Silicon Capacitor PANGYO TECHNO VALLEY, South Korea & SEOUL, South Korea--Silicon Mitus (CEO Youm Huh), an advanced specialist in Power Management Integrated Circuit (PMIC) and analog semiconductors, announced on 31st that it has developed an ultra-small silicon capacitor for high frequency and delivered samples for evaluation to its customers. A capacitor is an electrical component that temporarily stores a large amount of charge in a conductor and contributes to the stable supply of current to electronic components. Silicon capacitors, which are produced using semiconductor manufacturing technology, are ultra-small and thin (only a dozen micrometers high). As a result, they are commonly used for high-performance SoC package modules. Furthermore, as one or two units of silicon capacitors can replace several units of existing Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCC), its usage in IoT and SoC products is expected to rise. In addition, thanks to the excellent high-frequency characteristics of silicon capacitors, its application range is expanding to 5G and 6G communication areas. Silicon Mitus Unveils ‘SM581x’ Series Buck-boost Converter PANGYO TECHNO VALLEY, South Korea--Silicon Mitus, Inc. Buck-boost converters execute functions of elevating or lowering wide-ranging input voltages to a necessary output voltage.hes that achieve power conversion at a high efficiency. This translates to maximized battery life, making SM581x largely ideal for mobile applications. The series delivers a higher efficiency in Buck-boost mode compared to its competing product and is characterized by both a higher output voltage accuracy and wider output voltage range (1.8V-5.5V) than competitors. SM581x accounts for battery life through its low quiescent current value of 10µA. In light load conditions, SM581x products optimize power consumption by employing Power Saving Mode (PSM) and Dynamic Voltage Scaling (DVS) functions. Respectively, these mechanisms are responsible for minimizing switching losses and tailoring output voltage to the needs of the application in a responsive manner. The new SM581x adjusts output voltage through its I2C interface, eliminating the need for output voltage setting via external resistors. Combining this with a 1.4mm x 2.3mm WLCSP package size, SM581x offers a strongly competitive solution size. Design-wise, a small solution size minimizes both board space and additional expenses on external components. The SM581x series features 1.5A and 3A SM5812 converters, in addition to derivative product lines such as SM581xA and SM581xB that expand default output voltage options for customers.
